During the festival, the foyer of the HALLE is transformed into a cinema on selected evenings. We are screening dance films and documentaries about the company.

The dance film »atemzug« was created as a 25-minute television adaptation of the awardwinning choreography »nichts. ich werde da sein, indem ich nicht da bin« by Toula Limnaios. For the film version, both the choreography and the music by Ralf R. Ollertz were newly conceived and tailored to the cinematic medium. Inspired by Samuel Beckett’s »texts for nothing«, the work combines precise individual dance moments with the dynamic presence of the ensemble. The choreography moves between formal clarity and poetic, intimate passages, creating a multilayered visual language of physical states.

»we are made«

Duration: 30 minutes
After four years as a dancer in the ensemble, Giacomo Corvaia now moves behind the camera. Choreographic miniatures from various pieces, filmed with the dancers of the ensemble, are placed in a new context beyond the stage. For the film, these worlds are transformed and reshaped. The camera highlights details and, like a witness to time, tells a story spanning almost a year. A different context emerges as these micro worlds are filmed in places that seem to have fallen out of time, stand as monuments to history or exist in a state of constant transformation. They open up new interpretations and enter into new relationships within a network of images.
